Tesda Courses Offered in DPWH Training Center

DPWH Training Center is an institution accredited by TESDA that offers Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programs (TVET) under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The DPWH Training center was launched in support of the Pangulong Gloria Scholarships (PGS) and Job Generation program in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The successful launching was spearheaded by DPWH Assistant Regional Director Danilo E. Versola, who represented Regional Director Osop L. Ali; OIC Regional Equipment Engineer Lorenzo M. Yumang of the 11th RES; TESDA Provincial Director Nestor Tabada; and the trainors and assessors from the 11th RES and Area Equipment Services, Tagum City.

ARD Versola, in an interview said the DPWH Training Center offers TESDA-Registered courses under the Memorandum of Understanding entered into by DPWH Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. and TESDA Director General Secretary Augusto “Boboy” Syjuco.

Courses offered (on a first-come, first-served basis) include: Forklift Operator NC 11; Wheel Loader Operator NC 11; and Hydraulic Excavator NC 11.

The student/applicants have enrolled for scholarships under said program of the President. The training will run for 156 hours of 20 days, mostly on practical hands-on basis.

If qualified, participants will be given a scholarship grant of Php15,000 under the PGS, plus allowance of Php60.00 per day. This is in line with the Resiliency program of Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which provides free training, support fund and free competency assessment to support job creation and job preservation.

Once enrolled, a participant is obliged to finish the course or else he will pay the amount of the scholarship granted to him including the daily allowances.
