Larmen de Guia Memorial College was founded in 2003 by Dr. Socorro Corazon L. de Guia. The school was built to honor the memory of her parents: Dr. Laurentino de Guia Sr., who was a renowned orthopedic physician in Cebu, and Carmen Lozada, who was a lady of great respect and strong values. The two exerted a great amount of influence on the lives and careers of Dr. de Guia and her siblings.

In April of 2011, LGMC introduced the Basic Education Department. This department is a non-sectarian education institution managed by Filipino educators and is recognized by the Department of Education under the Office of the President of the Philippines. It is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of prominent leaders in business and education.
