Southeast Asian Institute of Computer Technology Courses

Southeast Asian Institute of Computer Technology (SEAICT) is an institution accredited by TESDA that offers Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programs (TVET) under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The Southeast Asian Institute of Computer Technology (SEAict) began as the education and training arm of the Camarines Sur Information technology Center (CSITC) then called the IT Education and Training Division. This division wholly devoted to education and literacy, functions through a systematized computer education designed to develop the human resource of Camarines Sur. The IT Education and Training Division administers and conducts formal classes on basic and desktop tutorial courses for free and primarily caters to local government employees of the province. Because the government is keen on improving the province with adequate computer instruction, the IT Education and Training Division under the CSITC later conceived of opening a full blast computer school offering two-year IT courses at subsidized tuition fees.

By the end of the year 2001, CSITC submitted the proposal on the opening of the two-year IT courses to Camarines Sur Gov. Luis R. Villafuerte and founder of the CSITC. In no time, said proposal merited the immediate approval of the governor. By the first quarter of the year 2002 the IT Education and Training Division sought the guidance of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for the accreditation of the Computer Secretarial and Computer Technician as CSITC’s initial course offerings.

Still a part of LRV’s vision on the expansion efforts of the IT Ed, he also expressed his desire of being able to incorporate distance learning programs and pursues partnership with other educational organizations and training institutes in the country and possibly around the world. With this agenda in mind, the governor thought that CSITC and its Education and Training Division by no means should create an organization that will have the sturdy capacity to pursue such burgeoning academic plans, and what other better means of starting off with this objective but by giving the training institute the most appropriate name that will automatically convey quality education that is at the same time evocative of its international standing.

Before July of 2002, the IT Education and Training Division handling the two-year courses was officially recognized as Southeast Asian Institute of Computer Technology or SEAict. It was also by the month of July of the same year that the two-year IT courses officially accepted its pioneer students and on July 1, 2002, SEAict formally began its classes.

At present, SEAict is expanding its program by offering additional IT courses in answering to the growing demand of skilled and proficient professionals in the field of information and communication technology.
