Laguna Maritime Arts and Business Colleges is an institution accredited by TESDA that offers Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programs (TVET) under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Laguna Maritime Arts, and Business Colleges, Inc. was established on the 28th day of March 1995 by Mr. Franklin S. Longno, a graduate of Iloilo Maritime Academy and holder of PRC Master Mariner license, and Mrs. Ma. Luz de Guia Longno, an A.B. Economics and Social Worker graduate at UST and La Concordia College. The school was located at 109 San Marcos St., Balian, Pangil, Laguna At the start, the courses offered were the Two-year Course in Marine Transportation and the Ten-Month Basic Seaman Course. After a year of operation, a Two-Year Course in Marine Engineering was also offered. After its sixth year of existence, additional courses were opened: namely, Hotel and Restaurant Services, Tourism and Travel Guide Specialist, Mechanical Technology Major in Automotive Technology, Office Management with Computer, and Practical Nursing. And as of now, Bachelor courses are under application for its operation.
Through the years, enrollment gradually increases. Progress was manifested through the expansion of the school plans. What was originally two buildings have now become six in all and expansion is still under process/construction. An additional features, unique in itself and very useful to our marine students is a “ship” built of concrete and steel which seems to be docked at the edge of a man-made “sea”. This is a brain-child of Capt. Franklin S. Longno, the school’s president. Mrs. Ma. Luz de Guia Longno had been approved also the reconstruction of Naval Bridge, Deck Simulation Room, and the Engine Simulation Room for our marine students and pavillion for all of its students. To take charge of providing formal instruction to our students, there are the Top Management, Academic and as well as the non academic staffs whose cooperation and dedication are beyond question. As a result, the relationship among the administrators, instructors and school personnel is quite wholesome. And evidently, such exerts a great influence on the student population. All these factors combined together can hopefully contribute to the attainment of our goal, which is QUALITY EDUCATION.
