The Sorsogon State College (SSC) is the former Sorsogon College of Arts and Trades (SCAT), one of the oldest trade schools in the Philippines. It was established as Sorsogon Trade school in 1907 before it was renamed Sorsogon College of Arts and Trades.
Cong. Salvador H. Escudero III sponsored the bill of conversion and Sen. Leticia Ramos Shahani facilitated its signing. Hence, after 86 years of existence, the school was converted into a state college by virtue of Republic Act No. 7666, which was approved in December 31, 1993 by President Fidel V. Ramos. Presently, it is widely known as Sorsogon State College which is operationalized through a province wide umbrella system where four campuses are integrated – Sorsogon City Campus, Bulan Campus, Magallanes Campus and Castilla Campus.
A Center of Excellence in the formation of progressive, self-reliant, responsive nationalistic, ecology-friendly, and value oriented people for a united, peaceful and agri-industrialized Sorsogon.
