A pioneering Language School

The school was founded by Mrs. Fanny R. Diploma in 1965 and was originally called Centro Hispanico.

Fanny was fluent in Spanish and she recognized the need to give Spanish language lessons to the well-heeled elite of Manila who had to speak Spanish fluently for business, travel and social events.

She organized the school and it soon became very popular. Before long, the demand for courses in other languages also grew and the school began to recruit teachers of other languages. Centro Hispanico became Manila’s center for language and culture.

Fanny Diploma developed the system which we now call the LI Method of Instruction. Fanny believed that you can learn a language much more quickly through the conversational style of language learning. Initially she developed a system for teaching businessmen to learn a language quickly. The curriculum focused on teaching useful phrases that a businessman would need right away. The system was modular and encouraged the learner to progress through several levels and ultimately acquire proficiency in the language.
