PHILASIA SCHOOL OF INSTRUMENTATION AND AUTOMATION (PSIA) was organized initially in January 2003 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 21, 2003. The school was founded by five past presidents of the Philippine Instrumentation & Control Society (PICS) and members in the TESDA* Advisory Expert Panels for Electronics Sector and for Instrumentation & Control Sub-sector, in their desire to hasten the professionalization of I&C practitioners. A critical analysis of the needs and growth of the industry made them realize that the demand for competent and competitive technicians and engineers will not be able to meet the demands of the industry not only locally, but also globally. This underscored the urgency of training technicians/engineers and developing programs to ensure that the profession remain competitive.

TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) is a Philippine government regulating office that provides guidelines for technical education curriculumn.

PSIA’s vision is to be the leading exponent of Instrumentation and Automation in the Asia-Pacific region. At present it consists of three functional divisions:

The Technology Courses Division (TCD) aims to train and develop world-class technicians within the standards set forth by TESDA* and in accordance with international organization standards. Course offerings include: 2-year Instrumentation & Control Technology, 2-year Electronics & Communications Technology and 2-year Electrical Technology. These two-year trimestral courses for Instrumentation and Control, Electronics & Communications, and Electrical Technologies are designed for high school graduates who and upon completion of the course are ready certifiable as TESDA Level III technicians.

The Technology Training and Consulting Division (TTCD) conducts the Specialized Training and Technical Courses for industries and companies, locally and abroad. It also provides technical consultation services for instrumentation & automation design, installation, & troubleshooting problems of industrial plants. A major program of the TTCD is the Accelerated Instrumentation & Control Course designed for engineers of other disciplines who wish to pursue specialization in Instrumentation & Control for engineering & design career paths and for higher industrial/company plant positions. The course is also open to technology graduates and technicians with 3 years industrial experience to enhance their I&C career. The classes are offered year round to accommodate even working qualified participants who would like to venture into other specializations. An intensive program for this course is offered for In-house training for companies and in summer part of the school year.

The Management Training and Consulting Division (MTCD) envisions in preparing technical people in their transition to managerial positions in their respective companies, contributing to the innovations in the industry and sharing their experience and expertise in the academe. The MTCD designs and conducts company-oriented Management Development and Entrepreneurship Programs for client-companies who want to develop the management skills of technical lead engineers prior to promotion as junior managers or supervisors. Non-technical/technical managers are trained to be more attuned in managing their technical staff in an industrial environment such as design engineering and manufacturing.
