The story of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation – Bacolod is inseparable from the history of its mother school in Iloilo City. For like the mother school, its past was rooted upon the same people who gave its birth, watched it grow and dreamt of its future.
It was born out of the same zeal, commitment and education, to give out the best education as dreamt by its founder, Captain Juan B. Lacson, a reserved Lieutenant Commander in the United States Coast Guard Service. This is the same zeal which was continued by its first President, Dr. Mary Lou Lacson Arcelo.
The mother school in Iloilo City and JBLCF – Bacolod may differ in some aspects of their growth and development, but both would carry the same principles, philosophy, and objectives that have brought the school various distinctions.
JBLCF-Bacolod started as an extension branch/campus of the Iloilo Maritime Academy in Iloilo City. The eight (8) hectare-lot where it serenely nestles was acquired in 1974; and operations started in 1976, offering associated courses in Maritime Education.
It was in 1984 when JBLCF – Bacolod was granted government recognition for its Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Associate in Marine Engineering (AME) courses.
